The Wikkerink family farm has roots that go back generations. Jan William Wikkerink bought the 300 acre Mill Bay farm in 1956, and his children and grandchildren continue the tradition today. Son Bill Wikkerink and his sons and daughter work the farm together. With a 3am start every morning, milking 140 cows twice daily 7 days a week, 365 days of the year - they are truly passionate about dairy farming.
"The neighbours told my dad, you're never going to make it." And yet here they are, still prospering decades later. Bill is proud his children are continuing the legacy. "Dairy farming is in the genes. Family is important, and there's no place like home. Island Farms has been good to us - the fact that it's a local company makes a big difference."
For more than 50 years, the Wikkerink family has supplied milk to Island Farms, and go further by paying us the ultimate compliment - they are customers. The only dairy products they buy for their home, are Island Farms.
