It's important to Island Farms that every child in our community grows up healthy, strong, and well nourished. That's why we created our Milk for Kids program, which provides fresh milk to families in need, through local food banks. Begun in Victoria in 1999, the Milk for Kids program now distributes more than 30,000 litres of milk each year to families throughout Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

Our partners in the program include:

What the Partner Food Banks are Saying About the Island Farms' Milk for Kids Program...

"The Island Farms' Milk for Kids donation program has been well received by member food banks on Vancouver Island. The milk is a tremendous addition in our ongoing effort to provide a good nutritional food hamper to the less fortunate. We commend Island Farms for developing a partnership with the food banks in assisting people that are living in the cycle of poverty and hunger."

- Brent Palmer,
The Mustard Seed,
Victoria and the Canadian Association of Food Banks, BC Branch

"The families who use our program struggle. Trying to make ends meet. Trying to provide for their children. Trying their best. Often they feel overwhelmed and alone. Then a large company like Island Farms says "we can't solve all the problems, but we can do something, we can care." Caring makes everyone's life a little better. Thank you Island Farms for your "Milk for Kids" program - it makes a big difference!"
- Dawn Braithwaite,
Loaves & Fishes, Nanaimo

"The best part of the program is how pleasantly surprised the mothers and fathers are when they are told they will be receiving a litre of milk. Because milk is so needed and they are not expecting it, they appreciate it that much more."
- Anna Beketov,
Cowichan Valley Basket Society, Duncan

"Families who use our food program are delighted to receive fresh milk. It is a real bonus for them as the benefit is for their children."
